There are different types of ATMs in operation but when it comes to the use of paper for printing out transaction receipts, they all use thermal paper. The banks that own the ATMs, often want specific brand communication messages and graphics to be printed on the back of the receipts. For this, they need special thermal coating to help printing on both sides of the paper. The other option is of course to go for pre-printed thermal paper carrying the brand communication on the back of the receipt.
